Stephen Strasburg, the Washington Nationals all-everything right-hander who quickly worked his way through the minor leagues after being drafted No. 1 in 2009, subscribed to the latter.

Strasburg gave up two runs over seven innings to earn his first-career victory in a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh. He recorded 14 strikeouts without giving up a walk, becoming the first pitcher in history to strike out at least 10 batters in his debut without issuing a free pass.
A Sports Illustrated columnist termed it “the most hyped pitching debut the game has ever seen.”
A radio show host called it “the biggest deal in Washington since the Obama Inauguration.”
And all Strasburg did was live up to the expectations, immediately becoming one of the most dominant pitchers – and players – in the game.
